SFX – SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP PROGRAM
SFX (SPECIAL EFFECTS) MAKEUP PROGRAM SFX-300
The SFX makeup program is offered four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This program is composed of 500 clock hours of instruction, with 25 credit units, and is taught over 5 months.
Overall Objectives:
To prepare students for entry-level positions in shops and companies that caters to the special effects industries for film, television, print media, commercial and video productions.
Course Content:
This course offers students the full-range of training necessary to begin a career in the special effects industry.

- Life Casting (full head)
- Basic Makeup Techniques & Painting
- Mold Making
- Designing Techniques
- Foam Rubber Casting
- Pre-painting Appliances
- Sculpting Techniques
- Basic Airbrushing Techniques
- Running Silicone
- Body Part Casting
- Hair Effects
- Prosthetic Applications
- Casting Facial Expressions
- Silicone Molds & Pieces
- Seaming
- Running Foam
- Multi-Piece Molding
- Final Project Presentations
This class is taught in a SFX lab, with customized spray booth and oven, and state-of-the-art equipment and tools.
Grades are determined by: attendance, completion of project assignments, quizzes, final projects and written final exam
